"I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore, all who are mature, let’s have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that to you as well; however, let’s keep living by that same standard to which we have attained." Philippians 3:14-16 (NASB)
This has been a very odd year for our team. We started our Good News Clubs in the fall of 2021 with high hopes of children attending in Sheridan and in Sundance. Our Sundance club didn't have any children attend. Our Sheridan club, at Coffeen elementary, had three children attend from Meadowlark elementary. After Christmas break, the volunteer who had been bringing the three children from Meadowlark, had to step down as a volunteer for medical reasons. Next thing we knew, we had no kids attending our club anymore.
We looked for community places to host Good News Club in, hoping that a community location would allow us to open the club to children from all the elementary schools, but every place we asked turned us down for one reason or another. We have not had GNC since we returned from Christmas break in January, and it looks like we may not be able to for the rest of the spring semester of 2022.
We press on though, knowing that our calling from God is not to give up. We are looking ahead to see about moving our Coffeen club to Meadowlark, knowing that at least three children from Meadowlark would be interested in attending club.
